NEW BLOG: Alastair Currill Photography

Welcome to Alastair Currill
Photography, I am based in the heart of the Cotswold’s in a quaint chocolate
box village known fondly as the Venice of the Cotswold’s Bourton on the
Water.  I attended Birmingham City
University (BCU) where I first studied Product design following on to Freelance
Photography it was whilst on this journey that  Alastair Currill Photography was born:

I have always had an
interest in photography, growing up I spent much of my time with my family
especially my Granddad, my passion for photography really
lit in 2011 after seeking a new creative outlet after graduating with a degree
in Product Design. I started taking photos with a second hand Nikon D50 that I
experimented with finding a style and approach that suited me best. I began
taking photos of friends and family and soon got commissioned for taking a
number of family portraits. All images can be viewed via our website www.alastaircurrill.com

It was shortly after this
that I thought WOW I could do something I love and make ends meet with it; in 2012
I founded my first photography business; Alastair Currill Studios where I
offered family portraiture and weddings. With a growing reputation around the
Cotswolds for photography I was accepted back at BCU to study Freelance
Photography. Whilst there I studied a lot of studio lighting, I slowly moved
into fashion and beauty photography. I founded Alastair Currill Photography for
that creative outlet. However due to the demand and growing business at
Alastair Currill Studios I sadly couldn’t finish the course but I merged my two
businesses together in 2016 offering commercial and wedding photography.

In October 2017 I was
offered a chance to take on the lease of a commercial premises located on the
Bourton Industrial Estate, I snapped it up and the studio was created.

Outside of work I am still always looking for new and exciting images to capture and new ideas to experiment with in my photography. I have also moved into creating videos due to my love of films and music, which complement my photography skills. When I don’t have a camera in my hand I am with my long-term girlfriend (unpaid PA) and our four beautiful dogs yes four! We enjoy long walks and relaxing in our home together.
